Okay, he's not really a unicorn but people way back when wouldn't know the difference considering that they wouldn't be able to get too close to these creatures.

There's more African Unicorn pictures coming so keep a look out!

wonderful.

i wonder if you were to raise one, you could train it to be ridden, like a horse?

Oddly enough, I asked myself that about most of the four legged creatures I saw in Africa, the giraffe being the highest on my list.

The only problem I could see with an oryx carrying a persons weight is their build... Their bones may not be strong enough for that kind of thing. And then there's the whole wild factor.... That's what makes zebra's hard to work with. They haven't been in camptivity long enough. :D Not that any of that stuff would stop me from trying!

yes.. do they have a flexible spine like, say a dog, or a stiff one like a horse? that would make a difference. i really think if you raised one off of a bottle, maybe it would be gentle enough. someone ought to start taming a few, then after a few generations, ridable oryx! if i had money, i would try it. lol .

I'm pretty sure that their spines are stiff but I couldn't say for sure... And I'm totally with you on trying it out!!! I think it would be a LOT of fun to breed zebras but the money factor is a big problem. Not to mention I don't think the demand for tame zebras is very high...... *sigh*

Capacity for violence, Rincewind had heard, was unisexual. He wasn't certain what unisex was, but expected that it was what he normally experienced.
